Education is the foundation for the future and we need to start taking it seriously again. The United States ranks 17th in educational performance. That is unacceptable. Too often, we are pouring resources into our education system and students are getting very little out of it.
It's time to make education a priority.
To do that, we need to start early. Providing universal pre-kindergarden to children does two things: 1) ensures that education is an essential component of achieving the American dream and being competitive around the globe and 2) access to free, universal pre-k could act as a substitute for childcare.
Just like our streets, bridges and highways, our schools could a face-lift. Our kids should not have to drink from dirty water fountains and dodge falling ceiling tiles.
Also, it's important to figure out how we can make college more affordable because there is no reason why American students should be ONE TRILLION DOLLARS in debt.
Receiving an education or a form of formal training is a pillar of American culture that makes us the envy of the world.
